Sena Bluetooth can connect via intercom to NON-Sena headsets
For now it appears this only applies to the SMH10 model. You will need to download the latest firmware: 5.0. They also updated the noise control feature.

Pretty cool. You are limited to one non-Sena device but this is at least one step closer to being able to communicate with everyone.

You can have an intercom conversation with non-Sena Bluetooth headsets using the Universal Intercom function. Non-Sena Bluetooth headsets can be connected to the Sena Bluetooth headset if they support the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile (HFP). The working distance may differ depending on the performance of Bluetooth headset that it is connected to. In general, it is shorter than normal intercom distance since it uses the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile.

buh. bluetooth range is going to be considerably shorter. max power output for a class 1 device puts the range at 100 yards or so before obstructions and interference. assuming the other device also has a class 1 radio. otherwise its 10 yards or so. limited daisy chaining makes it a little more effective.
other riders will probably need to choose between pairing with their phone and pairing with your headset as very few headsets support dual hands free profile. but you can pair it with a standard cell phone earpiece.
its a step in the right direction but nowhere near a standard comm protocol.
