I fell if I had a $200 helmet i'd be pissed if someone took it, however i only have a daytona DOT skull cap. but regardless, i was wondering if any of you guys lock your helmet to the bike or just leave it on there for some hoodlum to be a jerk and take it. I actually use the gun cable lock from my beretta (I leave the lock in my toolbag so i don't have to carry it around.) here are some pics

I put the lock around the swingarm and hang the helmet on the passenger peg. that way it doesn't blow around in the wind and ding up my tank, and/or hang upside down waiting for a pigeon to drop a wad in my helmet.

 

if i have a convenient place to store it where im at i take it inside. if not i lock it on the bike (using the kewlock attached to my kury grips).


guess im lucky that all the pigeons around me have bad aim.

I usually carry it around with me, like when I'm at the VA. But at the shop, I've started leaving it on my bike. I need to do the cable/lock gimmick and set it on the foot peg trick. Or on the sissy bar, just to keep the honest people honest.

I just leave mine on the seat. If someone really wants my smelly, 6 year old, $40 skid lid more power to them.

 

I put my helmet on the mirror, brake pedal or frame helmet lock if park longer.

 

My half helmet gets locked in the saddlebag or tour pak. The 3/4 won't fit, so I usually leave it on the seat or mirror. I like the gunlock idea. Easy to carry around and I have them laying around.

 

I use the gun cable lock also when in some places. In fact most LE agencies have them to give out free of charge.

 

Usually just lay it on the seat. I like your idea though. Problem is another key I have to keep track of
