Ram Mounts has a relatively new mount that is designed to go under the stem on your mirror( basically a oval washer with a ball on it). I removed one of the windshield brace bolts and put the mount on the brace. Then just get a arm in a length that will get you close to that position...

Oxforo sells a GPS motorcycle mount that attaches to the handlebar (or something else) that I'm considering getting myself. It comes with a waterproof cover and a hardwire charger for about 20 bucks total.

1st picture shows the bracket mounted to my windshield, 2nd is the arm that you can get in various lengths. I use this particular spot for my smartphone when running my GoPro. I have a second ball on the handlebars that I use for my gps. Might have to drill a hole or something, but you get the idea..

Default Another stem mount - Stainless Steel

Leader makes a mount that is stainless steel, won't rust, won't wear away over time. Mounts to the nut on your windshield brace. Simple GPS option is basically a stem with the ball on the end (common to Garmin GPS). Or you can get a bracket that mounts to the same place (that one is chrome) but accepts ALL their device plates: http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/universal-windshield/

I am working on the same thing. So far I am heading to a solution close to what Hammerhead did except I like to switch between my windshield and my quarter fairing. I am thinking of the same mounts except attaching them to a quick release mount or at least something that is not on the shields. We'll see.

I use this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTORCYCLE-W...f32302&vxp=mtr

You can replace a windshield nut with the mount or just drill a new hole and mount it anywhere on the windshield you want.
