Default NEW metzler ME 888's

has anyone heard anything good/bad about the new me 888's? I've heard the 880's had some issues. I know I have had my share with them.

I put a set of 888's on my Yamaha V Star 1100 last April and put 16,000 miles on them before trading the bike off last month. The back tire was just starting to show minimal wear at 15,000. I know the V Star is about 200 lbs lighter than my SG. I didn't have any problems out of the 888's in any weather condition

Haven't heard of any issues with the ME880's; only that some riders have run them under-inflated.

From what I have read, the 888's are still to have superb traction and great ride characteristics - but with a lot longer tread life over the predecessors - 880's.
I plan on putting a set on when my factory Dunlop's need to be replaced.

I heard about premature cracking on the side walls and treads. I had 2 in a row in the front crack between the treads within 300-1000 miles. From what I read the issue was coming from the brazil plant. I put an 888 on the rear last summer. So far so good. They didn't have one that fit my front. Otherwise I would have tried it.

I just bought a set of white walls. My indy swears by them - thats the highest praise I could get and he runs them on his bikes

I replaced my rear tire last summer on my Heritage with a 888. rides a little harsh, handle tar strips well, and good in the rain, but miles are supposed to be doubled with the Triple 8. You have to be aware the tire presure is different on some of the 888's as some are a reinforced sidewall and some are not. I run my 150/16 at 45lbs on the rear. I found the best price on these at Dennis Kirk. The 888's will be replacing the entire 880 line up as sizes and w/w's become avail. Yes the 880's have had some issues with tread separation on the heavier bikes. Chunks of rubber throwing off the tread.

I ran the 880's on my SG. It was the best tire I ever had on any Bike! I just changed the Rear tire to a 888. My rear tire had 15,000 miles on it and it still had tread left. I changed it out because I had the Bike apart and did the tire and brake pads on the back. I have about 300 miles so far on the new tire. The 888 is at least as good as the 880.
