Default Earplugs - Foam or Custom Molded

I have Vance and Hines pipes and am learning they are damn loud.

On a long ride, my ears hurt after. Also, I just installed a windshield, so the wind noise is less but the motor/exhaust is loud, and I am not a wimp.

Do you wear earplugs?

Did you buy the foamies?

Did you see an audiologist and get custom fitted?

Define a long ride??

Last weekend rode 1,000 miles in 2 days. If some of that is Interstate i put the earbuds in, turn on the IPOD and jam to some tunes. When i go off the Interstate i usually pull em out and stick cotton in my ears. Not so much for the loudness but for the wind.

My bike IS loud though, and i love that when I'm in tons of traffic going thru major Metro areas.

We use wax ones that you can get cheap at Wal-Mart. There's quite a few in a package also. Wife wears them mostly, but on occasion I'll wear them too if the wind is really howling. My pipes are factory head/V&H Monster Rounds with baffles in place, but fiberglass packing removed. So they rumble, but not obnoxiously loud. The wind noise bothers me most on rides over 200 miles.

Too much gunfire, and 47 years of v-twin riding have taken a toll on my hearing. I quit dicking around and had E.A.R. build me some full shell digital plugs. I re-packed my 4 inch Freedom Performance mufflers, and them sumbitches are loud, ears ringing after every ride. The digitals mute,or completely cut out, high decibel sounds, while allowing normal hearing, and really mute the wind noise. Only way to go. Only 1800 bucks.

$1800 fug that! Glad it helps you though. If I dont have music going I have plugs in. My hearing is still okay. I wanna keep it that way.

I like the smooth foam, sold at walmart. I give away more than I use, so I always have some for others.
Ride all day... no issues. Very comfortable. The yellow ones (I used in USMC) by comparison; are very rough and do not fit as well.
I'm sold.

Loud music is one other thing that damaged my hearing. Had a lotta' good drugs in SoCal back when. No tunes when riding, just wind and growling pipes.
