Propipe too loud...

Propipe too loud...
I even installed a Smartpartz quiet add-on baffle and the dang thing is still too loud. The standard baffle is wrapped pretty tight with the white packing AND is completely covered in a clear packing tape. Been researching re-wrapping the baffle and guys are using woodstove door gasket with some success. Anyone have any experiences or ideas with this?

My quiet baffles (which I decided not to use) for my Big Shots were covered in white cloth but it was pretty loose fit and only a small piece of tape holding it together.
First, everyone's definition of what loud is, is going to vary on this forum - so you have to find what is "music" to your ears.
Secondly, one is typically restricted to the amount of packing that they can fit around the baffles due to the fit between the inside of the pipe and the outside of the baffle.
The tighter the packing might actually increase the noise level some and could hurt performance.
V&H makes a quiet baffle for the Pro-pipe ($95.00) have you tried that yet - typically baffles to these types of pipes will only reduce 2-3dbs but also change the frequency to a deeper tone.

I elected NOT to use the V&H Quiet Baffle because of poor reviews here. The Smartpartz baffle got good reviews. But your right, quiet is in the ear of the beholder, Smartpartz says use their quiet baffle WITH the standard baffle and it's still loud.
