Default Shutting your bike off

Yesterday there were two motorcycle cops behind me at a stop light. Both of them shut their bike off waiting for the light. Now did they do that so they could hear each talk? or are they trying not to overheat their bike? Thoughts?

I have no idea why they or anyone would do that, just for a light. Now for a train, yeah.

Agree with for a light NO you may need to get out of the way fast, A train Yes if i cannot see the last car. As for the cops think about it, the tax payes pay for their bikes, all they do is get on and start it, cops do not even check tires or do a walk around, if it breaks the Tax payer will get them another one.

I live in South Florida.
I will shut mine off on a long light.
No sense in making it hotter than it is.

I have a couple of friends that were motorcycle cops and they had a mc mechanic at the precinct garage that went over the bikes every week.

Yup, I live in so. fl. too, but yesterday was a perfect day, around 70 degrees not the usual 90. It just seemed odd to me to shut it off just for a light. A long train or the bridge up at the intercoastal, ya, but not a light.

They were probably checking out your pipes and sizing you up for a noise violation.

That's proof they don't own them.
