Take course or no
Hello, dont post much do alot more lurking. Decided to get my first Harley got my heart set on a wide glide, going the used route. I havent been on a bike in about 5 years. Is it worth spending money on a course. I cant find anything in my area except the whole get your endorsment course which I still have. Just trying to get a feel if its worth the money or not looking at about $700 cdn for it.
Thanks
Rob

I've ridden for many years starting when I was in high school, and then stopped for a good few years until June last year when I bought my first Harley.
I planned to go for the skills test last year but winter crept up on me - two weeks ago I went for the skills test and passed without an issue.
No doubt that you could learn something from a course, but only you know your skills level and whether you need it.

I don't see how any good riders course could ever hurt. Another suggestion is to purchase the video "Ride Like A Pro" which I purchased even after riding for more than 30 years.

Thanks for the input guys. I rode since high school so fifteen+ years but I think I'll take the course to brush up. Pretty sure it will be new for me after my hiatus. Might go to demo days at the local HD dealer and see how it feels

I highly recommend taking a course! I too had ridden for years when younger but took a course through the Alberta Safety Council and learned a lot.
Also, not sure how ICBC rolls but having the course got me a rate break from my insurance company too. AND the course fee was tax deductible as tuition fees!

Absolutely good call to take the course - even if you learn but one thing, it's that one that may save your **** one day.

Ok I've decided to take the course. Does anyone know of a refresher type course in the lower mainland? Not really thinking I need the full get your licence course.

I had a 30 year gap in my riding days but it didn't matter...Texas has a law, that to get your bike license, you HAVE TO take the 2 day, $200 course. I'm not saying it wasn't worth it because I did learn some stuff.
