Default Hey guys, help with a decision?

New here.
Quick bio on myself: Had a 2013 72, stage one, wrecked.....(Mistake buying it as my first bike!)

Onto a new (to me) and cheaper bike.

So, Im looking at 2 bikes, Im 6'3 so I enjoy forward controls....

Bike 1: 2008 Nightster, speedo relocate, front signal relocate and 10" mini apes. Everything else is stock, along with mid controls. 3080 miles, $5800.

Bike 2: 2010 Iron, forward controls, SE slip ons, 10" mini apes,1/4 fairing, dual seat and ignition relocation. 4880 miles, $5800.

Bike 1 is 45 min. away. Bike 2 is 2.5 hours away! Dont really want the power of an 883 and doing the 1250 kit would cost more than doing forwards on the nightster... so I guess the better deal would be the nightster.. but my question is, Were there any major issues with nightsters or other 1200 sporties in that year?

Also, What are the best forward controls for the money? The cheapest I've seen are on Ebay, for $309 and that seems crazy high to me, being I already have the pegs, just need to move the stuff forward... Dont get why the price is so high!!

Any help?

Definitely go w/ the 1200. Too bad about the '72. They are sweet What's worn with that for a first bike?

Just the amount of money it cost, for a rider with 0 experience.

Anyone else know about the 883 forward controls working on a 08 nightster?

Yes. They will work. Frames are identical. In fact I had a '07 Nightster w/ forward controls. I think it's the same part # for 883 or 1200.

Please make sure the forwards are HD brand. Seen too many reports of ebay/Chinese brand breaking. That's not something you want to happen at speed.

the nightster (sportster) is a good bike as are most of the sporties. motors about bullet proof. the only pia with the 08 is the fact that the ecm is in the rear fender. as far as forward controls...could keep the mids and add highway pegs or...I agree 100% with dk..get the Harley forwards. more expensive but much better quality. good luck

Is money an issue? At 6'3" maybe stretch out to a Dyna or Softail. The 72 is nice. Did you take the MSF course?

^^^ That ^^^ Or you can run a Swap Ad in the classified section of this forum and on Craig's List as well. There are a lot of Canyon Carvers out there that want Mid controls and would love to swap with you.
