I just got a set of the HD leather detachable bags (90181-08A). I'm looking for a way to keep them locked to my bike (2013 Super Glide Custom). HD sells the Universal Saddlebag Lock kit which I haven't installed yet - anyone have any experience with it? Drilling that through the flap of the bag doesn't seem like a very secure lockdown. I don't leave anything of great value in the bags when I'm away for a long period. My primary concern is keeping the bags on the bike. Since they're so easy to remove once you're inside (simply turn the little lock pin and pop 'em off) I'm considering fabricating something myself to cover that internal lock pin so it can't be accessed. Something like a metal cover that I lock with a padlock or something. If I know the bags are locked to the bike, I'll carry off anything of value in a small backpack if I plan on being away for a while. Any ideas or previous solutions?
