Default Tire milage

This post is just to let anyone interested that I have a new favorite tire. I had seen advertised claims by Michelin of a 20,000 mile tire life expectancy on their Commander II touring tires, but as they had just come out last year, hadn't met anyone who actually had enough miles on the tires to verify this. I took a shot and had these tires installed on my 2012 Road Glide Ultra at 14,350 miles. I now have 33,421 miles on the bike. Over 19,000 miles on these tires and they look to have at least another thousand left on them. I ride pretty hard, with a good mixture of city, interstate and country road riding and pulled a trailer on a 7000 mile cross country trip (which is hard on the rear tire when accelerating and hard on the front when braking). I was pretty happy with my OEM Dunlops but the Commander II's have them beat. And they handle very well on dry pavement or in heavy rain.

Good to know, but i really don't have a problem with OEM tires at all. They hold up great in both handling and life span.

I'm going to have to try the Commander IIs on my Fat Boy. I hope they are somewhat like your Touring tires. I'm lucky to get 7K out of the Dunlop 200 rear tire.

Happy to read this. At 5600 miles the OE Dunlop on the rear is toast. The front tire looks like it's about half way through it's life. I decided on the Michelin Commander II's as replacements.

I only got 15k on the tires that came with the bike. I was hoping for a lot more than that.

That's one of the reasons that I switched to MC 2's, we will see what I can get on mine.

I put the Commander II's on my bike this past week.... They grip like a pair of vice gripes on a brass fitting.
