Kutter restricted from seeking HD contracts
Was informed by Jim Palmer today. Harley as told Kutter they are not allowed to sell Harley ESP contracts out of state. Dealer wanted $1000 more.
So I won't be getting one. Likely don't need it,

wonder when the other boot hits the floor...no more discounts for internet or mail-order purchases? if the moco gets away with this, they will soon try to shut down all discount dealers.

There's an up and down side to both online purchases and in person at the dealer.

Nah. There's nothing that requires dealers to charge the MSRP for anything. Those who discount mail-order count on making up margin loss with volume, and they still pay H-D for the parts they sell just like all other dealers, so it's no skin off H-D's nose however those parts are sold.

I wouldn't be surprised if a purchase made at HD's online store gets sent to a dealer to be filled.
As long as the manufacturer (HD in this case) is making theirs they really don't care what their dealers do to shift parts. In fact, the move volume the better.

If HD wants, they CAN require that all their products be sold at MSRP.

Not saying that it would be a smart move for them, but it looks like it's legal.
