Riders in HOT climates.
I now there's probably a thousand (if not more) opinions regarding oil so I'm not trying to start a debate but I'd like to hear from those who live and ride in the hotter climates.
A friend and I are heading to Dallas, TX in early June and then onto Las Vegas. We'll be in TX, AZ, NV and UT about two weeks so I'm a bit concerned about the heat on our engines.
Around here, even the dealers use SYN3 but even my manual recommends heavier oil (SAE 50 above 60 degree temps, or SAE 60 above 80 degree temps).
My question is, what weight motor oil do y'all use in the summer months?

Just run synthetic.
If you are worried, get an oil cooler.
BTW, the W in motor oil viscosity means winter not weight.

The same as I run in the winter months. And it gets damned hot here. 110 on the way to Hollister last year. Run 20/50 Syn or conventional and you'll be fine. Also I believe your manual says to run those weights when the lowest ambient temperature is above 60 and 80 respectively.

Always thought the "W" represented the viscosity weight at a given temperature, I definitely learned something today.
