Default Starting Question

When I hit the start button, the bike turns over once then pauses and then turns over a couple of more times and then starts. Wondering what is causing this pause. Happens when first starting and after riding for awhile and restarting. Prior to this year, it has always just turned over 3 or 4 times and started. Just started doing this this year as it's a 2009 Super Glide Custom. Checked the battery and it's fine at 12.41. Any ideas? Thanks

Still sounds like a battery. Any other engine mods?

You need to take out the battery and have it load tested. My 2011 superglides battery tested good for the voltage but failed the load test. Replaced the battery and problem went away.

Just a stage 1 but that was done back in 2010. It runs fine....just the starting issue.

If your connections are tight, it's the battery. Autozone and most of the other autoparts will load test it for free.

+1 for the battery. Load tests reveal the secrets hidden inside the walls!

Checked it with a meter. Max was 14.12 and min was 8.68. Assuming 8.68 means it's shot (it is a 2009), is everyone replacing with OEM?

I think many are using non oem. Mine is from Batterymart. Another thread going on where they are using batteries from various auto parts stores.

Careful with interstate, buddy went through 2 bad batteries in a row from them. On the upside they honored the warranty on both of them.

12.41 volts IS A DISCHARGED BATTERY! A good battery (12 volt) should measure around 12.9 volts at rest!
