Default Rust in my gas tank

Hey I was looking over my bike and I noticed rust in the bottom of the gas tank. I used my stick magnet and pulled out some of the rust, how do I get it all cleaned out? Has anyone else had this problem?? Any help would be appreciated.

I picked up a gallon of Metal Rescue rust remover - about $20 a gallon. I'm amazed at how well it's worked on some tools I found that had been left outdoors and some dock parts. It's a safe/green type product I've been impressed with so far. I haven't tried it on a tank but I would be tempted if the research said it was OK. You might want to check it out

After you get the rust out you'll need to reseal the tank. I strongly recommend a product like Caswells Epoxy Tank Sealer:

http://www.caswellplating.com/restor...nk-sealer.html

Follow their prep instructions to remove the rust, and recoat via their instructions.

You have to be very careful what you use to reseal tanks these days. The Ethanol in modern gas blends dissolves some liners. I had to seal a fiberglass 68 BSA fuel tank. Ethanol eats fiberglass.

The Caswell's epoxy is impervious to ethanol, and the tank functions perfectly.
