Default Using the AVC on an aftermarket Radio

Got a 86 FLHTC,original radio has issues(some lights are out and turns itself on and off.) so i'm pulling it out and installing a Sony DSXM60. Wondering is there a way or has anyone done it. To hook the AVC back up into this new radio? I know that the Thumb controls won't work as these are still old school. But having the AVC working would be a plus.
Thanks

I have a Sony and Biketronics controller, there is an AVC but I don't use it so I forget how it works. Something about holding the mode switch for a certain amount of time and going up or down to adjust.

I put the radio in my bike on Saturday. After 4.5 hours and doing some serious cutting on the inner fairing it's in and looks real good. I don't think you can use the original AVC and with the age of my old bike nothing from Biketronics will work unless i would replace all the controls on the grips with something from 94 or newer. Not willing to change out my old girl so she stays like it is. I did get a remote for the radio and i plan on putting it on the clutch side of the bars so i can run the radio with that thumb. Will post some pics once i get it finished.
I have to say though nothing fits in this old bike all the new stuff is over sized even the speakers i had to modify to get then in.
