Compensator?

Compensator?
I see in another post here someone wanting feedback on a BDL compensator. I'm a bit frustrated. I have a 2011 FLHTC with 35,000 miles on it and the comp is making a thunk sound while shutting down. I've been told it's time to replace it. WTF?
I don't drag the bike, I just ride. The 2012 has an upgrade. I never had this problem with my Evo or Shovel. What's up with this? How many miles should you get? I thought Harley was making 100,000 mile bikes.

BDL, which so far is working well, although its still basically new, darkhorse, which everybody really wants, but only God knows when that will hit the market, so choose!! there are some other options, but check to see if the clunking is coming from your primary

"the 2012 has an upgrade"...they are still failing. my 2012 has had the compensator replaced with the upgrade of the month. that was a year ago, and i am afraid it will be time for another one soon.

recalls only affect safety items. they can do a campaign for them, but harley rarely ever does that. they do their R&D on the public

HD has never made a 100,000-mile bike.
The people that buy them have, mostly with aftermarket parts.
James base gaskets, Torrington bearings, Andrews hydraulic chain tensioners, BDL compensators to name a few. All of it was an improvement over OEM...HD should be thankful for them.
