Tips to remove rubber from matte exhausts
Hi,
New member and really hoping someone can help. I've just (4 days ago) taken delivery of my brand new 2014 HD Breakout and I've managed to accidentally get boot rubber on my matte black exhaust pipes. Every search result I've got on removing rubber from pipes covers off chrome finish and so far I've yet to find a remedy which will work on matte pipes that doesn't risk the removal of paint and having to have them resprayed.
Surely i cant be the only person to have come up against this so I'm appealing for some help.
Is there a quick and easy remedy without risk to my brand new toy?
thanks
Nick

Don't know if it will work on matte pipes but getting the bike hot , leaving it at an idle get a bucket of cold water and an old towel . Soak the towel and wipe the burnt stuff , repeat as the towel heats up , keep it cold & wet . Doing this I've cleaned chromed & black chrome pipes with no problems .

I've used Easy-Off oven cleaner on chrome pipes (cold-not hot) and it works well, but I'm not sure what the matte black finish is made of so I hesitate to recommend it. If you DO try it, make sure none of it spatters on any aluminum. The lye will corrode aluminum almost instantly.
