Over-riding a security system...
I was watching a video...and it tells how to change the security code on any Harley Davidson without a key fob.
My question is this. If you have a security system on your bike and leave your ignition switch unlocked, anyone that knew how, could come up and change the code, then when they go to start the bike, it would ask for the code since the fob is not present, and once it is entered, they can start the bike and off they go.
That doesn't seem very secure.
What am I missing?
Here is the video...

Easy solution is to change PIN to a code only the owner knows and don't keep a key fob near bike when parked. If you do this the bike will not allow someone without a key fob to access stored code. I suspect service people have a way to access if a customer does not leave them a key fob but do not know their methods. I added the alarm to my Limited and it is quite annoying when it goes off. I guess a thief could pull the alarm module and main fuse to shut down alarm but will still be left with a disabled 900 lb bike they have to man handle to steal.

Anyone that follows the video who doesn't have a key fob, if the ignition is unlocked can change the code, then use that code to start the bike.

The security system activates pretty darn quick if you move the bike or turn switch on without the fob. You barely have time to begin entering the PIN. As stated above I do not think it will allow someone to access the PIN without a fob.

1) You can't change the code without the FOB.
2) Pulling the fuse does not disable the alarm. It will set it off. The siren has its own battery.
If you are dumb enough to leave the code at the default "12345" then someone could enter it and steal your bike but if you don't have the security system they could just steal it with no problem.
