No Sun? No Sunglasses

No Sun? No Sunglasses
When I wore a half helmet I always had a pair of progressive lenses that would let more light in as the sun went down. My new full face has a sunshade that flips up and down BUT is not progressive.
The other night I was cruising in the far left lane at 60 mph with the sunshade down when I realized the low sun to my back and haze didn't call for the shade. I reached up and flipped the switch which lifted the sun shade. A hundred yards ahead of me and to my right was a young bitch heading across three lanes toward the left turn lane. Off the throttle and hard on the brakes as this idiot flew across my nose. It was pure luck I lifted the shade when I did because the dark shade blended with the color of the car making it invisible!
Moral of my story is make sure to have clear eyewear for those dark or hazy rides.

You're lucky. I never did understand why riders wore sun glasses at night & FF helmets with dark lens. To each there own, but not next to me. We have enough issues with cars as it is & don't need to add to it. Just my 2 cents.

Years ago, I wore sunglasses ALL the time.
My last helmet had a tinted face shield, which was great for the daytime but when I was caught riding at night, I always flipped it up. My new helmet has a flip down tinted goggle and a clear face shield. I'll never ride without a face shield.

Many years ago I owned ONE pair of sunglasses and wore them day and night. Now I'm much older and wiser and wear a set of clear safety glasses that have UV protection and really help with headlights at night.

I wear a half helmet. During the day I wear sunglasses, at night I wear glasses with yellow lenses. They really brighten things up and help you see better.
