Default I made a mistake

well the other day I almost pulled the trigger on a 2014 heritage I wrote the down payment check and gave it to them buy then I decided that I wanted to think about it but stupid me didn't get the check back so I get home and realize it and I emailed the business manager that I would come get my check on saturday well the deposited it luckily I did not sign anything so all it was is a deposit

I was mad they seem to think it was no big deal

I think you're fine. Just cancel the deal and get your deposit back. Nothing can be forced on you until you sign the contract. And in some states, you have some time to change your mind even after signing the contract. It varies.

Guessing it was a lack of coord in the dealer's part between sales & accounting. You can always stop payment...for a fee.

I talked to the business manager first and he acted like it was to bad you gave the check now time to buy so I went above him and talked to the general manager and he said as long as the check cleared they would give my money back he pointed out that I was very wishy washy that made me mad

Don't let them get away with acting like they're doing you a favor. They HAVE to give it back. And with them acting that way, I doubt I'd ever darken their doorstep again.

Well don't be surprised if you get told their policy is to give you a gift card only good there instead of cash back.
