Default Wheel problem

Hi changed out my front rim on 2005 electra glide from standard mag to 9 spoke chrome with new stainless rotors. Problem now is when brake calipers were torgued on wheel would not turn. So placed washers on calipers and wheel turns but brakes are dragging as after a short ride rotors are too hot too touch . Does anyone have an idea what I need to do to correct this problem? Thanks

Shimmed either too far or too little it sounds like. Take a flashlight and look at the rotor/calipers from the front of the bike, get the calipers centered over them. All washers are not the same thickness, use what it takes. Also make sure your forks are not spread, follow procedure. Work the brakes and spin the wheel before lowering your jack.
If you're not sure, definitely take it to someone who knows what they're doing, that's serious risk if done wrong.

I had a wheel installed at Rapid City during last years rally by a major well known vendor. I didn't realize that the brakes were dragging until I felt the real hot rotor a week later. Put on over 500 miles in SD, WY and MT. I had a spacer put on after I got home and everything's fine.

Have you got the stock axle spacers on the correct sides? The left and right spacers are not identical and if you get them reversed there will be binding. Been there, done that.

Did you look at the calipers? Does it look like they need to go in towards the wheel, or away from it in order to center over the rotor?
