At least a XL. Sizes can vary, try before you buy

Depending on who makes the jacket and who makes the vest...I usually go at least one size larger on the vest.

I wear a 4X jacket and I wear a 5X vest that fits nicely over the jacket.
The vest will feel a little big without the jacket at first, but you'll like having the extra room in it.
If you "carry" ,the larger vest will conceal the piece nicely.

Are you buying online, or can you try them on?

I would probably go with the 50 at least to go over the jacket...Possibly a 52.
I like to have a little room to move in my gear, so I usually would rather get a little bigger than risk going too small.

Does the vest have laced sides, or not? If it does, you can always loosen those up to give you enough room for the jacket.

Do you want to use vest extenders in the front on hot days, or to get around your jacket with/instead of the side laces?

If either or both is a yes, you can probably just get your regular size - gives you an option to just wear the vest without the jacket and not be swimming in it.

If both are a no, go a couple of inches or a size larger.

Best option would be to try it on first, but if ordering, you'll have to wing it.
