Full face helmet's become popular
I live in northern California and I have noticed that wearing a full face helmet is becoming more the norm with Harley riders, especially with the MC clubs and riders under 50.
I used to wear a half helmet for ever, but have recently switched to a full face to keep my eyes, ears and mouth protected from the elements. Especially while on the highway etc.
Are half helmets still the norm in your area?

Well I'm in Florida so no helmet at all is really the norm. I did see a guy who I'm pretty sure was not military like a lot of the riders where I live and he had a full face. I'm pretty sure he wasn't military because he was riding in a short sleeve shirt which is a big no no for us. I know as far as the military guys I see the full face/modular is getting more popular. Along with the three quarter.

Perhaps the "clubs" prefer the anonymity of a full face helmet.
Lots of folks taking video and photos these days.

I live in a no-lid state I do ride without a helmet at times, but I also have a full face (my first) that I bought a couple of years ago. I wore half helmets in California for many years after the law was enacted. I may go back to a half, because now that I'm older (59) I realize I was lucky riding helmetless for many years. As far as the full face...and I'm kind of embarassed to admit it...but I'm a bit claustrophobic and they make riding more stressful than fun for me. I can't wait to rip it off of my head.

We have worn full face helmets for years. The comfort and quiet makes those 500+ mile days doable. ND is a no helmet state. Very few people wear helmets here, but among those that do, full face is the majority.

In the mid-Atlantic states, where I do the majority of my riding, it appears to me that the majority of cruiser and bagger riders wear half helmets. Sport bikes are almost universally full face (although sometimes with shorts and flip flops).

Ive been wearing FF since 05. As do most of my Brothers and many other clubs. At one point we were often profiled to check compliance to the helmet law in Texas. We put on FF to simply remove the primary reason (cause) for LE to stop us. We had the law amended in 07 to forbid stops to specifically check compliance and succeeded. Just never stopped wearing our FF helmets.
