Own a 07 Street Glide. Rider since 06. Involved in an accident 2wks ago with massive road rash and head injury. Glad to be alive and now the fight begins with the at fault driver's insurance company to replace a never dropped, scratch less vivid black SG with only 19k. Afraid I'm going to loose my u now what! Any thoughts my brothers and sisters?

In these cases your insurance company is your friend. You are holding all the cards here. Your lawyer (the one you should have hired already) will deal with the personal injury settlement.

You are entitled to replacement cost of same year, option and mileage. You will also have to show value for added accessories. You can also get loss of use plus tax tag and title. Look at cycle trader and similar for cost of comps. Good luck on your recovery. And if you haven't yet, talk to an attorney in order to protect your rights.

Thanks to all that replied. Afraid I'm loosing a decent bike for someone's mistake other than mine. I figured it would be around 16k with the add-on's. Lawyers want a 1/3 of your cut so I would lose that battle as well.

Most lawyers do not take a cut of property damage only the injury recovery. If you find a lawyer who wants to take a third of the property settlement find a different lawyer. The only way I ever take a fee on property damage is if it is contested and requires me to file a suit which is very rare.

From your friend in the insurance business
Few things you need to do
* Get an attorney - Most attys wont touch your insurance settlement because they want the personal injury suit.. confirm this
* Your ins co will be your advocate as they will subrigate the claim (get back money do to the other idots fault) - Talk to your agent AND your claim handler. They know the deal. odds are youll get full fair market value.
* Do you have coverage on your accessories? Gather your receipts
* GO TO THE DOCTOR - no hero **** here... Make sure your well and following advice
* Ask your insurance co if they work with a dealer - SOME companies will refer you to a dealer, and assign the check (if theres no lein).. It makes it easy...
Good luck
