Default Michigan Harley Mechanics

Looking for some words of wisdom from my fellow HD owners. I bought a 2004 Sportster 1200 and didn't catch that the exhaust manifold bolt is busted off flush with the engine. I've researched the issue and it looks like it could be costly to fix. Is there any really good place to take my motorcycle to in Michigan that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? HD shops seem to cost ALOT. Thanks in advance.

In what part of Michigan do you live?

Which bolt is broken off?

If you're going to leave the head on the bike, get some estimates from some of the Harley dealers in your area. If you remove the head, any good automotive machine shop should be able to do it. If you thing that everyone charges too much, do it yourself.

I'm actually looking for a good recommendation for a mechanic other than the local HD dealer. Thanks for the input.

I have a '11 Fat Bob and had the forward most exhaust stud break off flush with the head. Could not get it out with drilling and bolt extractor, so my friend and I took the head off, drilled out broken stud and put in an insert. Altogether it was about a 3-4 hour job with cleaning everything up while it was apart. BTM
