Default Learn from Andy & set Security Pin

I've been painfully reading the thread from Andy about losing his fob's and not knowing his pin. Gotta say my heart goes out to you b/c that sounds like a PITA situation. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...-key-fobs.html

The thread made me realize I'm one of the lazy @sses around here who never reset their pin. And I also didn't have one of those wallet cards with me (from the Owners Manual) with the instructions on how to use the pin to override the security system in case you lose a fob. My bad, but fixed that yesterday. Pulled out my manual and reset the pin. Filled out a wallet card and stashed it. Then practiced the override procedure to make sure it works.

I know, it was dumb to never do this before.

Andy thanks for the lesson. I'm betting others got a wake up call from your post too.

Good reminder!

And yes, I did the same thing earlier this week...

All the best,

Shane

It was on my to do list until I had emergency surgery. During the recovery out in the garage tinkering I finally reset my pin. Just one of those things I kept putting off.

I don't worry about a wallet card. When I reset my pin I set it to a number I'd never forget i.e. service number. I also do the over ride procedure on a fairly regular basis when I'm too lazy to go back in the house and need to move the bike around the garage.

Good idea to reset the PIN since dealers use the last digits of the VIN for the PIN.

I need to practice starting mine, like the battery is dead. I know I said I was going to but I never have. I'm the 2nd laziest guy here.

My dealer wasn't that creative. I got 12345 or something similar.
