Default need homemade backrest ideas??

has anyone ever made some type of bracing inside a duffel bag that allows the driver to lean against it and then it will rest against the passenger backrest. I plan on making something like that and packing a few pieces of clothes around it and bunji it to the seat. I have an 06 streetglide and riding from Indiana to florida on sunday. im not worried about space cause I plan on putting clothes in my saddle bags. and I don't want to spend the money on a Harley driver backrest.

Probably won't get this done before your trip, but I built my own and couldn't be happier with it. Pictures tell the story, a piece of 3/16th steel heated/bent so it aligns with the slot in the seat. $14 for the steel from Home Depot and a $20 soft tail backrest from a swap meet. A few coats of paint and you don't even see it.. [.html][IMG][/IMG] .jpg.html][IMG]ammerheadpat/DSCN0356.jpgURL]

On longer trips (+3.0hrs)I ALWAYS strap a Sleeping Bag packed in a compression bag on the back...Cheap and very adjustable

Ummm...did you not read the 1st thread. He said he didn't want to spend very much money.

Those aren't really a DIY project either.

Exactly! I've done that on solo trips and it works just fine, OP. ZERO dollars.

Have a fun trip!

Like they said, a good duffel bag.
This one easily straps to the back seat, & the adjustable length means adjustable comfort.

Stuff sack bungied to the seat works great!

So does a backpack on the sissy bar.
