Default 1200 Harley. Full dresser!

While loading up to head home from Ocean City last week, a guy was checking out our Street Glides.
He told us how much he liked them, and how my wife was something else for having her own.
When we asked him if he rode, he replied, "Oh yeah! I have a 1200 Harley. Full dresser!"
I forgot to ask him what year, because I heard that there was a lot of trouble with leaky headlight fluid on those from '02-'05.

Ummm, I'm having a senior moment but were not older dressers 1200's, during the bowling ball manufacture era?

Harley made motorcycles before the Twin Cam? Huh, never seen one at bike night. :-D

If it's in nice shape I'd rather have the 1200 than my current crop.

A "dresser' is born
When Harley introduced the 1957 XL Sportster it was intended for touring riders as well as those for whom performance was important. As a result, panniers and racks were included as factory extras to allow Sportster riders to 'dress' up their bikes.

It was 54 CI and weighed 463lbs ! That was the 1st Dresser

We got that "I've got a '57 knucklehead" a lot when I was in the club and these goofballs were wanting to let us know they had bikes too. Yeah right.
