Tire sucks or is it me?

Tire sucks or is it me?
I have a 2012 WG, it's been worked on a bit and runs 106hp and 115 tq, nothing to carried away, seems the stock back tire has little traction, even when the motor was stock.
Little bit of rain, it sucks, even on dry pavement it takes little to get it to slide a bit.
Tire pressure is kept about 2 psi under max (heavy rider).
I haven't had a stock tired bike in years, but I don't remember any of the other brands of bikes having this trouble.
I'm wondering if it's not only a problem with the thread pattern, but overly hard compound to get mileage at the expense of traction?
Tires only got under 7k on it and has still good tread depth.
Little to chose from in the WG size, I'm wondering if a different sized rim will give a better choice of tires, maybe a size or two larger also??
Is it me, or does the stock WG tire suck?
And if it's the tire, what can I go to?

I really like Michelin tires, they stick well, especially in rain. But you already have a Michelin on that bike, right? Michelin Scorcher “31” 180/60B17 75V.
Here's a link here that discusses some of the options:

I have a 2012 Deluxe that came with stock Dunlops. I hated them. Probably the only time I'll ever be glad for time to replace tires. I got just over 13K out of the Dunlops which I was kinda glad for pocket wise, but also glad that I could finally get off those sucky tires. Man these Metzlers I switched to are the bomb!

Mine, although not a WG, came with Dunlop. I've never had any problems with them, other than they don't last as long as I wish they would. 15k seems about 5-10k short.

Ok, it looks like to get either more rubber on the road or/and a better choice of tires I need to go to a bigger rim. ??
I'd rather not change out swing arms or go to wild, but it looks like maybe a 6.5" rim will fit the 2012 WG I have?
I think that makes a 200 tire work?
A 5.5" was mentioned also and a 190 tire?
Anybody know what I can or should go to?

Might be a good time to go to a chain drive too.

You say that the tire pressure is just under the maximum rating since you're a heavy rider. But, what is the tire pressure supposed to be for the bike? That same tire could be used on a lot of different bikes, each one having a recommended pressure (which is usually well below the max pressure the tire is rated for and printed on the sidewall). It could be you're under it's max pressure, but running at too high a pressure for your particular bike, which could cause the issue you're experiencing. Check your owners manual and adjust accordingly.

Wow guys I hope I can get 7-10k out of my stock set of tires. I just came over from street bikes where we wore them out every 2500 miles and had to buy a new set. Shoot we could wear out a brand new set in a few days riding at trackdays.
