Default Knock in engine area

I turned the bike on just now to go for a quick ride and when I started the bike there was a knock (not a normal rattle) coming from the left side of the engine and primary area. I turned the bike off and started it again and it is still doing it. I twist the throttle and the sound goes away for the most part but when I let off the noise comes back. Any ideas?
