Default I don't understand forward controls

slightly confused by all the terminology when i'm looking to buy forward controls for my bike. some say nothing except forward controls. some say +2 or +3". does that mean there are three different types of forward controls? and +3" are three inches further forward than regular forward controls? can someone clear this up for me?

As previous post started you are correct. There are normal forward control that are good for average height rider. But if you are alittle taller and want more of a stretched out feeling which makes highway miles a lot smoother. I am 5'11" and I use the +3 kit from Arlen Ness. It simply is a plate that moves the forward controls 3" further forward and about 1/2" out this helps knee clear the A/C also. Picture them as a cooler version of highway pegs.

I'm 6'1" and I have stock controls. I can't imagine having them 3" forward and I've never felt cramped up, needing them moved. If it works for you, great.

I'm 6'2 and I literally can't ride dynas with mid controls, my legs just don't bend the right way. The forward controls on the fat bob and wide glide feel just about perfect. I like the feel of mid controls on bikes that fit me(Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda), having my feet "under"me feels more controlled, but with Harleys, I simply can't do it unless there's a custom seat raising me up 2" or more

Looking at your bike (nice BTW) and the specs in your sig, why even ask? You have floorboards. Plus your Lo is already lowered???? I'm confused but easily amused.

You're probably like me; long torso, short legs.

Default Same here..

I have a 34 inch inseam and cant ride a Dyna without forwards. My Sportie, I needed a Custom or I could even ride the thing. After 45, my CBR - that was a nightmare...

But as stated and to answer your question - You iterally move the controls forward. Highway pegs are not forward controls as some folks think...

I just don't like the floorboards. I only rest my heels on them (barely) and have to move my foot back when I want to shift or brake. I'm 5'11" long arms, 34 inseam but I hate the look of having your knees way up next to the tank. I'm thinking the 3" is what I'm going to be looking for, just making sure that's what it actually meant. The only hard part is going to be finding someone that makes them for my bike.
