pulled over on a harley
come to think of it, i've never seen it. ok not including the usual burning rubber or really excessive speed, or as a previous thread starter pointed out, having huge ape hangers (which i didn't know was illegal) who has been yanked off the road by a copper for something else stupid (or valid)?

I've been pulled over once, got a speeding ticket.. 70 in a 55. I think he might have let me go if he hadn't had to follow me for a few miles before I stopped.. I never heard the siren.

Got stopped twice for speeding in less than a month. Rode past a cop at around 60 on the bridge between Phila and NJ. I didn't see him do to the sun being low in the west. Got stopped in my development for 35 in a 25 during a speed enforcement blitz. Both times got a verbal warning. made me think twice about how fast I was going.

It's tapered off dramatically the last 15 yrs but before that getting a " who are you ? " roust stop was a regular event and some of them back in the 70's & early 80's where movie cliche bad including the small town Barney incidents and the overweight doughnut muncher out to prove who was boss . Had a weapon pulled on me during 2 stops .
The massive amount of Ward Cleavers riding today has been a boon in that respect the stops when I see them are usually called for anymore .

I got yanked the day before Memorial Day this year for doing 50 in a 35 on my Softail. The Cop let me go with a verbal on the speed and a verbal on my non DOT helmet. I got pulled 3 times on my Street Glide in the last four years by NC Highway Patrol twice for speeding and once for following too close. They let me go all three times with verbals and one written warning.
I think that my USMC time has helped me in all cases although I never bring it up. They usually see my ID Card next to my license and the tag on my Softail kind of gives it away. I never argue and am polite so maybe that helps too.
