Default Just reminiscing

There is no point to this thread, I guess I'm just feeling old today, and I'm just reminiscing about how it all got started. I was 8 years old In 1967 when I got my first minibike it was a 3hp Briggs and Stratton powered Aggie minibike and I rode the snot out of that bike for six years. In 1972 when when I had turned 14 I got my first brand new Honda CL 100 K2. My grand daddy passed away and my Father used part of his inheritance to buy me a motorcycle, that cost 600.00 brand spanking new. 29 years and five almost used up metric bikes later In 2001 got my first Harley, a just broken in used2000 Dyna Wide Glide it had 1200 miles on it. Now I ride a Road King that I bought brand new in 07 for 18,355.00 - 21000.00 out the door, with about 7000.00 worth of mods. So there you have it folks, 47 years on two wheels and a motor, 42 years on the streets & hi ways and 13 years on a Harley.

I know what you mean about feeling old, by the figures we are about the same age, but I still feel pretty good most of the time. We both started off about the same as well, me a Scat Cat 4 H.P. that got up to bout 35 m.p.h. then a Honda CT70 that my dad bought for me the last day of school (8th grade) that I rode the snot out of. I would give both n**ts to have either one of those bikes now, and occasionally dream of getting one again for the nostalgia. Now, I go out for a ride on the Harley and try to find an oldies station, and reminisce about the good old days, and hope to continue to make new memories from today. You may be old, but you still have lots of life left, Lord willing. Tim aka Highway Guy

Yep, I caught the bug on a Bonanza mini-bike. It was a red frame with a white Tecumseh engine and friction rear brake. I was pulled over by Oakland PD for riding it on the street..circa 1966. Got a ticket even though I was only 12.
Had to bring my mom to juvenile court.

I got the fever when I was about 6, Dad brought me a homemade mini bike with a lawn mower engine on it. The throttle was a lawn mower throttle mounted on the frame. A year or so later he got me a Kawisaki 75. I ride the snot out of that sucker. Our house burned down and the bike went with it. Dad passed and. I'm got remarried so when I was about 12 I took over her husband's Honda 175 Enduro. In college I managed to get a Honda 350 Four and rode that for a few years. After that life happened and I gave up riding for about 25 years. Around 5 years ago my neighbor decided to sell his 87 Yamaha Venture Royale and my wife talked me into riding it. I'm just shy of 5'6" and that bike was a bear to handle so I sold it after a couple of years and bought a 2003 Yamaha Royal Star Venture which was better but still really top heavy. I rode that one for about 4 years. About a month ago another neighbor bought a new Harley Ultra Glide and I joked with the wife about letting me buy a Harley. She said you've always wanted a Harley, go get one so within a week I bought a new Street Glide Special and I'm loving it!!! Since getting back into riding with the first Yamaha, I've been averaging around 10,000 miles per year on a bike. That'll probably go up some because we like the Harley so much. It's a wonderful life! Every time I climb on a bike I'm back in high school on my old bike taking in the first breaths of freedom.

I always "had the fever". My parents would never let me have a mc. Afraid I would kill my self. Even though as a teen I had the money of my own to buy one. Kind of like "You'll shoot your eye out". Although they let me have a .22 rifle when I was 6 years old. Go figure. Well. The first thing I did after graduating high school in 1972. Bought a 1970 Honda CB 750. Have had at least 1 mc since.

I wanted a Honda Scramble. My Dad, a WWII Infantry man in Europe, said no way!! I saved some money & my Dad kicked in some. We bought a Harley Topper Scooter in 1963. Hell, I didn't even have a driver's licence yet. My Mom had a $hit fit. I would go down to the neighbor's house & hang with him. He had a Pan with all kinds of chrome & aux. lights. When I turned 17, I bought a used Sporty from the small HD dealership. You know the rest. I'm 66 yo & plan on riding as long as I can hold them up.

Started on a CB125 in the early seventies. Owned many bikes over the years, went through 3 years once without ever owning a cage. My all time favorite bikes over the years were 2 Kaw (750GPZ Turbo, Ninja 900), a FJR and my current bike, a CVO RG. Halfway to my lifetime goal of a million miles on 2 wheels, still got a few good years left!

Me - My uncle was a NYC MotoCop. I was in diapers and remember the bike.. This was about 1964ish. My dad rode so I was around the exhaust for a while. My 1st time up was in the early 70s on a Honda 50.. That was it... I saved for a CT70, Then a DT125.. Then I bought a new Seca 750 in 1982.. Then.... My buddy Jeff bought a 70s Superglide.. My next stop around 1984 - Lombardi's HD for a factory orange Wideglide shovelhead....
