I am posting to say thanks you the guys that informed me about Helicoil Thread inserts. you saved me LOTS of money and time. I had to use a Helicoil insert for one of the screws in my clutch inspection cover. I was a little worried about doing it so i did a test on a piece of aluminum first. after the test I took my sweet time and it probably took me 10 minutes to fix it and about $30.

I did the same to my Sporty last weekend (there's a thread on the 'other' sporty forum). Was in the same boat as you, nerves wise, and did a trial run on scrap before installing in the bike.
