help with handlebar shake.

help with handlebar shake.
my 02 Road King is all stock with low miles. I find that while riding at certain RPM's when i let go of the left grip the handlebar will shake. If I place a finger on the grip it stops. It won't do it all the time. I have checked the bolts holding the risers and handlebars are tight and the riser bushings are good. Any suggestions what might be the cause or a remedy? Thanks

Could try poly bushings. But really even a new bike does that to a point. It just transfer from the motor. And your bike is older so I'm not sure if you have a rubber mounted motor or not. But its to be expected really

The simple answer is, just don't take your hand off of the bars!
Seriously though, I agree w/larsfum, check your motor mount and if need be, replace it with a Glide-Pro. That made a HUGE difference on my SG.

I've had the same problem with my bars at certain rpm...1600 and 22-2300 rpm. And speeds over 75mph, it's like riding a huge Jack hammer. Two shops say nothings wrong...even though I had my counterbalance "fixed and replaced" in January. I guess I'll ride until it falls apart.

Like others said, check your front motor mount. You might check and make sure your front tire isn't starting to cup.

Steering head bearing is usually the culprit with this. It could be spokes or motor mount as well but more likely the steering. Grease the bearings and tighten them up after loosening the fork clamp bolts on the lower tree.

Exactly! Also check your triple-tree. I had one once that was a little loose and it would cause the shakes at a certain speed. Re-torqued and all was good!
