A recommendation for riders who don't wear gloves in summer
I've moved on to technical gloves with knuckle, palm and other protection. But if I hadn't, I'd totally rock these.

Bitwell makes nice stuff and they look like they would offer at least minimal protection for all of 40 bucks. Great looking gloves too.

Although I appreciate your fashion advice, I don't think I will change after all theses years and "rock" those.

Crash
If you crash, and if you ride long enough, it is just of a matter of when you do, instinctively, you put your hands out to cushion your fall. It is much better to wear the palms of your gloves out than the palms of your hands out. I also always wear sturdy boots and not flip-flops for the same reason. I started riding on my birthday of 3.17.1965 and always have ridden a bike as daily transportation except for my 2 years in Viet Nam from Tet 1967~1968. Do what you like but I would prefer if you all kept as protected as best you can.

I've got a very thin pair of leather gloves I wear when it's chilly and others when it's colder. I usually don't wear gloves at all when it's hot, though I do feel a bit 'naked' without them (because it's never hot around here it seems).

I always wear gloves -- too many hard-shelled flying bugs and airborne pea gravels around here to go bare(!) I've got probably a half-dozen pairs (family seems to think they make good gifts), everything from HD to Biltwell to others.
