I need to replace my half helmet. Current suggestions? Want something that offers protection but doesn't give you the mushroom head look. Flat black or gloss as a second choice.

Yep, Akoury AK88. I bought one last year and after seeing it, 3 of my riding buddies bought them too. Great little helmet.

 

The bell pit boss is nice. Has a few extra features. Zip in ear piece for cold weather, drop down shield for rain. Nothing looks smaller and lighter that that Akoury though.

 

Another vote for the Akoury AK-88. Got mine from Bo at Hogshoppe.com in NY. Low profile (like my old, recalled Outlaws), comfortable and nice ratchet strap.
