Transmission fill question ?

Transmission fill question ?
I'm leaving on a road trip in the morning and was checking my fluids. My tranny is right on the add mark and I have never had to add before. I was wondering if someone could give me an idea how many ounces to add so I don't over fill. If I was going to guess I would say start with two ounces and go from there but I really don't know. Thanks !

If memory serves, I believe the transmission takes 1 quart to fill from empty. At least it does, on my two bikes. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
So, probably not to much if you are right at the add mark. Your way works!

If it is a couple ounces low it is not a big deal. Check for leaks, transmission oil does not burn up so if you are low it is leaking somewhere or there was not enough in it to start with. There are different procedures for checking it too depending on whether it is a five speed or a 07 and later 6 speed. 5 Speed straight up and down the 6 speed on the jiffy stand. If you put too much in you'll have a mess on your hands. Little low is better then a mess.

My experience, don't remember why but the dealer did a trans. service on my 05 Low Rider one year and went to the full mark. After some lengthy rides I couldn't find the oil dripping off the bottom of the primary. Well the trans vented some oil after it got hot. I drained put in 22 ozs., never burped again.

Thanks, I should have mentioned I have a 2010 Ultra. I know it takes 32 oz but was curious how low it is when it is on the add line. I use Mobile V Twin 20-50 and it's so clean it's hard to see on the stick. I think I will add 2 oz and see where that puts it. I haven't noticed any leaks so I'm puzzled why it is low. I do all the fluids myself so I can't blame the dealer.

right out that little hose on the transmission top cap.
