Touring and Carpal tunnel
The wife and I just got back from a week long trip to FL. She on her Switchback and me on my Heritage. I'm whinning because of my sore butt (saddleman w/backrest). She's whinning about her right wrist. No sore butt, no pain in the back, just wrist. This was a 1200+ mile trip and we took 4 days to ride. Anyone else have any remedies for this carpal syndrome? Oh, she's 59 and I'm 61 so we just took our time.

Been there done that. Both wrists have been relieved. Found padded gloves that support the palm and fingers. Got a pair of weight training gloves at walmart that work well. Good luck do lots of stretching and before getting cut on try acupuncture.

There's lots of helpful gizmos that ease some of it but the problem won't go away short of surgery and even then it comes back after some years if you keep using the hands the same way . Knocked down my saddle & long distance time some as I've aged . Good luck to her .

Time and cut out what started it. It will get better. It won't get better by itself if life dictates you have to do that certain movement. I use to work long hours as a designer/engineer/programmer and used a mouse and space ball a lot. Use to have to switch hands about once a month or it would get so bad I could not click the mouse. Retired a few year ago and I have no problem. Screw surgery and those silly wrist wraps that hold it at a funky angle unless it's absolutely necessary.

I had a throttle boss on my grips thinking it would help with carpal tunnel. IT MADE IT WORSE. Carpal nerve is in your palm. Those types of products put more pressure on the nerve and makes it worse. It lasted all of 15 miles before I took it off. I have more issues with my hand falling asleep. Gloves with gel padding in the palms really help. Also bars with a bit more wrist angle keep less pressure on the palm. I haven't had surgery but I have had cortisone shots. If she hasn't seen a doc, she should just to make sure it is carpal tunnel. It could be a number of thing including something that a chiropractor could work out.

I have had a release in my right hand and am currently nursing CTS in my left. I have found that wearing my brace every night is the best thing to cut of symptoms. Other than that, cruise helps me to take my hand off and give it a rest. The thing is you have to do it before you have problems on the bike, waiting until you have problems is too late.
