Louder pipes

Louder pipes
Got a 2009 fat bob with 2-1-2 screamin eagle pipes sounds good but would like it to be a little louder. Thinking about cutting the baffles out any suggestions?

When I was younger, I gutted a muffler, after I convinced myself the gutted muffler sounded like my riding lawnmower without a muffler. Before it was over I removed the baffle, put some of it back, tried a straight pipe, then went back to a muffler.
If you are working with a stock muffler they are welded construction. If you have an aftermarket the baffle is usually removable. Some guys like to take a couple inches off them.

Eh. Had a shovelhead sportster put drag pipes on. After a week I did insert the baffles. Still bleeping loud.
My current 07 softail custom has screaming eagles and its all good. In truth its still pretty darn loud but at 75mph its just right IMO.
You can mess with the baffles but unless youre deaf and want to make everyone else deaf, you prolly won't like it. Just my been there done that .02 cents.

I'd recommend you hang around the HD dealership a few Saturdays and see if you can find someone that did the same thing or find a set of pipes that roll in that you like.
Loudness is very subjective (and touchy here) - everyone has different tastes
I would hate to see you gut them and then not like the end result

I've gutted enough pipes to say some sound good and others sound like crap. The latest set I gutted were 4 inch Rineharts. I bought them and never like them once they were on the bike. So I did a full baffle cut and put snubber bolts in them. They were load but I still didn't like them. So I put a set of Rush Big Louies that I had cut a few years back to half baffles. They look and sound better than the Rineharts. I have a set of Cobra Speedster Dual Power Ports coming. They sound good stock or will pound loud and maintain a good sound debaffled. The Cobras are about $60 less for a full set than I paid for the Rienhart Slip ons. They will go on next week with a Fuelpak and Ness Big Sucker Stage 1.
My advice would be if your going to start punching pipes or cutting baffles wait until you have some new pipes on the way, or buy you some stock pull offs to mess with. You can usually pick a good set of them up for less than $50. If you punch them out with a piece of 3/4 inch rebar you can get a straight shot that isn't so wide you loose all your back pressure. They will sound pretty good to. I have a few sets of those out in my shop.

No you didn't.
OP, buy a set of V&H 2-2 pipes if you want louder... but keep your baffles in. You need baffles for performance reasons.
