Default spiral binding/service manual

hello fellow riders

does anyone know if an office supply store can put spiral binding on the WHOLE service manual, or will they have to break it in two.

where can I have it done?

I have all my manuals and parts books drilled/punched for large 3 ring binders. The back of the spine often ends up tearing either way.

An office store can do it but I would also go with 3 ring binder. The spirals are not as easy opening as you think.

+1 on the 3 ring; makes it really easy to use.

I also used clear page covers. Didn't have to punch holes in the pages that way and they don't get greasy and are easier to turn. Need 2 binders though.

I took mine to Kinkos, all three manuals, service, electrical, and parts. Showed them the "centerfolds" and asked them to make sure they were careful to only bind one side. Spiral bound with a heavy duty spiral. I think the total for all three was less than 15 bucks. They lay flat on my workbench and if it is going to be a particularly dirty project, I can lay them flat and copy pages a lot easier. Three ring is great too, but I am too hard on manuals and end up pulling the pages out of three ring.

I take all mine to FedEx/Kinkos and have them slice off the factory edge and drill holes for 3 ring binder. Only costs a few bucks and makes them much easier to work with. I think it was around 5-10 bucks for each one including the binder. Have done 4 like this with no issues. YMMV

Spirals come pretty big, just the bigger they get, the more flimsy they are. Just make sure they do a test punch if the manual isn't exactly 11". Depending on how the binding is put on, it will probably need to be chopped off. Have to make sure they have the big power chopper thing. I've used one lots of times, just don't know what it's called. If you work at a large company, they might even have the stuff to do it there.

I had mine done at Staples for $6.00 or so. They did it in one spiral binder and it worked prefictly. I could findly lay it flat on the garage floor without having to insert a wrench to hold the page.

As I recall they were out of the big binders so I had to pick it up the next day.
