I have owned many Pan Heads, Shovels and now a "Twinkie" twin cam. I have all ways drooled over early authentic Knuckle Heads and pretty much sat out the whole Evo thing. (I was riding crotch rockets---I admit it). So head types (stock) are a whole lot of my youth---misspent or otherwise.

And now I WANT a name for the stock heads on my current bike and after all these years all you other Harley Heads have come up with is "Twin Cam."

Which describes the motor a bit but does nothing imaginative about the stock "heads."

The other night it hit me: CASTLE HEADS.....


Before you throw a tomato at me let me add I only wish to offer this new name for the stock heads. S&S makes twinkie heads but they are not "castle heads" as S&S makes theirs sort of flat looking.

But the stock heads: CASTLE HEAD.

What say you my Harley brethren? Have I added to Harley lore or farted in church?

That's why when they tried to call the EVO the "block head" it never caught on.

When the Evo came out, the some of the magazines tried calling it the Blockhead, and it didn't catch on. When the TC came out, some of them tried calling it the Fathead, and that didn't catch on either.

I love both my Shovelhead and Twinkie, but yeah I like the old name method as well.... Times be a changing....

 

They already have a name that is established. Your title says it all and I suspect that was why you used it. Simply, "twin cam", describing heads or motors. Easy to understand and here to stay. To put it bluntly, Castle head sucks IMHO.

 

But what about the HEADS?

You are obviously a little late comer to the Harley herd.

And you have no interest in HISTORY or you would not have bloviated about such an obvious motor description: WHAT ABOUT THE HEADS??????
