I was in Kansas City for work all last week. Had one afternoon to get out and used the time to see the plant that makes the Street, Sportster, Dyna, and VRod bikes. If any of you have the opportunity to go for the tour, I recommend it. Cameras aren't allowed though.

While on the tour, I saw a lot of painted Sportster tanks in the old 883R paintjob in both cream with panel and black with panel. Are there any rumors about Harley bringing that 883R model with the dual front disks back to the market?

It seemed odd to see all these tanks with the 883R scheme side-by-side with the current paint jobs. I asked our tour guide, but he wasn't aware of any new model designations.

Are the UK bikes made there also? They still have the 883R in the UK.
But I would love if the came back on this side of the pond.

 

If only the R models came with a 4.5 tank and spoke wheels! I'd love to have one. Maybe I'll just get dual discs for my Low....

 

I think that solves the mystery. I checked out the UK site, and see the tanks I was looking at in Kansas City.

One minor difference, the web site shows the lighter color as Moroccan Gold Pearl, but what I was looking at was definitely a light cream color.

Thanks for the info! Was hoping that I found something special headed to the showroom in the form of a throw-back 883R.
