Apes on FLHX

Apes on FLHX
I installed 17" apes on my street glide. I can't tighten the clamp enough so that they don't move. Does anyone have any tricks or tips of how I can tighten the clamp enough so that they don't move?

You sure the bars are moving?? Bushings allow some movement. On taller bars like apes you have more leverage and it will move a tad more than stock bars and risers. It's not actually the bars moving, it's the play in the bushings.

Are they knurled where the bar meets the clamp?? Take some heavy grit sandpaper and trim a piece to fit. Or a thin piece of rubber from an inner tube. Real thin piece of sheet metal.

how hard did you hit that pothole??? i run 14s on my fxst and when i hit a speed bump to hard they shifted back a couple inches, as well as my 12s on my sporty when i hit a hard bump, cause of the holding tight onto the bars cause i knew it was going to hurt and when i hit they moved but i couldnt push them forward without loosing the bolts, id try to avoid the potholes and you should be good, your *** will thank you for it too good luck

Look on ebay for the clamp they call a "Superclamp" I think the original is made by Yaffe. But I bought the cheaper one that is an imitation. It works great for holding the bars in place.
