Default 3M paint defender spray film

Has anyone tried this? Seems easier to install than the 3M film, that I have but have not installed. Thinking about installing on the front of the rear fenders, that catch stones, and the side covers.

Anyone have experience with the spray on stuff?

Used it last summer on the front fender and tank. Followed directions even using the provided wax. I guess I sprayed it too thin. Worked well but it was a PITA to remove. I had to re-apply a thick coat to get it to peel without tearing. Even then, it didn't all come off. I had to "roll" the rest off by hand. No damage to the paint. If you decide to use it, put it on thick so you can remove it later.

Friend of mine used it like a bra on his cage engine hood. He had a hard time removing it when it starting showing dirt, and the response from customer support was that he'd put it on too thin.

The bottom line is that you have to put it on so thick that it's very visible, and the whole point was something that was initially not visible.

Pretty much. I put it on thin to try and minimize orange peel. I applied 3 light coats in quick succession. It was slightly thicker than stretch wrap. Thick enough to remove is going to be really visible.

Wow! Great feedback everyone! Back to reconsidering the 3M film that I bought.

I used it a couple months ago under my removable pillion. Put it on extra thick to keep from marring up the paint underneath since I ride with a solo seat most of the time. The stuff worked like a charm and came off no problem with no damage at all to the paint. Even after a few hundred miles the seat didn't wear through. I plan on using it again later this month on our next trip.
