Fork and Shock oil change question
I posted this in a different place but saw no responses...Ok...So I was sold on the idea of changing out my shock and fork oil on my 14 limited. I went to pickup the oil at a local place that does suspension only. The guy told me that after a couple of miles and some bumps the thicker oil will turn to foam and the shocks would be worst than with the stock 5w oil. Have any of you heard of this?

There is a thread on this somewhere in tge touring forums. I have never heard od this happening unless its done wrong due to air being left in the shocks. Go on youtube and there us a vid on replacing your fork oil.

if that were the case, then why do they have so many different fork oil weights?
personally, i replaced the stock type e with the screaming eagle heavy. i like the firmer feel. some folks think it is too much, so they use a 50/50 mixture of stock and heavy. firms it up some, but not too much.
do not use the se race. that is like concrete.

Like stated above. I went with the screaming eagle. Don't care who really makes it. Harley sells it and recommends it. Don't over think fork oils. I change fork oil annually. It always looks to need it. The book tells you how much to add to each fork. Put bike on jack. Extended forks. Remove bottom plugs and top plugs. Drain it. Reinstall bottom plug. Add clean oil measured to recommended volume. Reinstall top plug. Ride her like I love her.
