Default Cycle Shack muffler ?

I just put some cycle shack mt-129 mufflers on my bike yesterday and they came with pop rivets. The instructions said to drill a hole in each head pipe and attach the mufflers to the head pipe with the rivets. Is the rivets necessary or can I just use the muffler clamps?

Never heard of that before now. Mechanically I don't see why you couldn't use clamps.

I have a pair of Cycle Shack slip ons for my wife's Deluxe and they use clamps like everything else. They were just a bit too pound for her, so I ended up replacing them... still have them somewhere.

When I bought CS slipons for my 07 they did not come with rivets. I don't know why they would be necessary, especially if you torque the clamps correctly. I also use hi temp copper silicone as an extra precaution against leaks.

Yeah, i never heard of using rivets either. I just left the rivets alone and used the clamps off of the mufflers I took off.

My thoughts as well. I'm not sure what the proper torque is, I made sure they were tight though.

Try the ultra gray, holds up better and blends with the chrome. I use it on shovelheads which are notorious for exhaust flange leaks. Once the stuff sets up it will hold a pipe if the clamps fail or aren't torqued well enough.
