Default Loose Backrest

Hey all, the backrest on my 2004 Fatboy is loose. By this I mean just the leather cushion part is loose on the backrest frame. The bottom two bolts are tight but apparently the bolt on top which is under the HD emblem plate is loose. My question is does this emblem just stick on? And if I remove it to tighten the bolt I will have to get another one?

I had the dealer install the backrest/luggage rack when I bought the bike ten years ago so I'm not sure how it works. Thanks!

Dave

It's a stick on. I've heard you can use a heat gun to get it off. Too risky for me. I've got a Heritage backrest identical to yours. I was able to spin the pad off. Then I just put a nut on the screw threads and tightened it down using a piece of rubber inner tube and vise grips to hold the threads. Once that was tightened, I spun the pad back on. It's very tight now. That chrome bracket that has the two screws doesn't do a lot to secure the whole pad...it's tightening the main screw behind that bar/shield logo that is the trick.
