Default Trading in at Dealership

Im Canadian and imported my FLHTK from the states.Im now thinking of buying another bike at an American dealership and trading my bike in towards the purchase. Will I only have to pay tax on the difference between my trade in and the negotiated purchase price like it is in Canada. Thanks for the input. I know I dont have to pay the state tax since Ive imported two bikes I just want to know the Canadian tax Ill have to pay.

That border complicates simple things.
All I know is that when I trade in New York State, I pay a sales tax on the difference between trade-in & sale price.

Since you will be licensing it in Canada,I think you will pay the tax there. Here in Illinois,if I bought a bike in any other state,I'd have to go the dmv with my paper work, pay for title and registration, and tax.
Talk to your dmv or equivalent there, they will tell you what you will need.
